Here is an update on the status of the little kitten
I talked about in my previous blog entry:
The situation in our home was not going to be ideal for the kitty.
Our property does not have fences to keep it safe outside,
and we were not wanting a house cat.
We also have some daughter-in-laws who are allergic to cats.
Except for when the grandchildren came over,
we were keeping the kitty in our downstairs laundry room.
The kitty loves to be held, and it got lots of loving when the grandchildren came.
It became apparent that the kitty
would have a loving home
at the Graham's.

They have named it Penelope.

A Family Halloween Tradition
Beth made over 200 "Halloween" donuts to
share with her neighbors and some for
family also to enjoy.
As soon as each batch of donuts were glazed and while still warm,
they were delivered to neighbors
as a special treat for their Family Home Evening.
A "Four-Generation" Tradition
This is a photo of Rebecca helping cut out the donuts,
as a "4-generation" tradition is being continued.
Rebecca is helping Beth (her mom).
She is using my mother's donut cutter
to cut out "Spudnut" donuts
from the recipe I had to make donuts on Halloween
for family and friends.
An interesting memory of this tradition is from the year Beth was born.
Her birthday is October 11,
and I still wanted to make the donuts that year.
After the dough had risen and was ready to cut out,
I put Beth in an "infant seat" on the kitchen counter,
rolled out the dough, and cut out the donuts
using the donut cutter that had been my mother's.
After the donuts had risen, I deep fried them and added the glaze,
while Sam answered the door to each Treat-or-Treater
to hand out the warm donuts.

We have been enjoying these autumn days with the milder temperatures and colorful foliage. As October comes to an end, we are reminded that we have lived in our home in Spanish Fork for five years. There were no trees or plants in our yard when we moved in and just a small area of grass; so it is interesting for us to see how much the trees and plants have grown. In fact, more trimming is needed next spring.
We always enjoy having family and friends come to visit; but for those who live a distance away and cannot drop over for a visit today, I thought I would post some pictures showing the autumn colors we are enjoying in our yard.

The summer pool cover is rolled back
and the winter cover now covers the pool.

are both rented by the owner of the sheep
where his sheep are spring, summer, and autumn.

Now, come on inside!
Our home is decorated for Halloween.
The decorative gourds are ones the
Grahams gave us from their garden.
Our Empty Nester group of friends
typically meet once a month,
and often we meet in our home.

Some of our group who usually come
were unable to be here this time and were missed,
but we enjoyed being with those who came.
We appreciated the freshly baked bread
and home-made jam Jolene brought and
the crackers, dip, and candies Ginnie brought
which were served from her cute Halloween containers.
I also had apple slices, chips and dip, cheesecake squares, and punch.
After eating, we enjoyed sharing some
thoughts relative to uniqueness about our Church.
