In middle school you learned that you cannot take the square root of a negative number. Nothing times itself gives you -1.
Mathematicians got around this by inventing a new number out of thin air. They called it i — the "imaginary unit" — and defined it as the thing whose square is -1. It was a bookkeeping trick 16th-century Italians used to solve cubic equations.
For 400 years, nobody thought it meant anything about the real world.
Then, in 1925, Erwin Schrรถdinger sat down to write the equation governing every atom and every chemical reaction in the universe. When he finished, i was sitting in the middle of it.
He hated this. He wrote:
He tried to get rid of it. He could not.
Here is why i is so strange and so unavoidable. Imaginary numbers do not live on the regular number line. They live on a perpendicular axis. Together, the real line and the imaginary line form a two-dimensional plane.
And multiplying by i has a hidden geometric meaning. Start at 1. Multiply by i, you land on i. Multiply again, you land on -1. Again: -i. Once more: back to 1.
Now imagine a function that keeps multiplying by i as you walk along the x-axis. That function is e^(ix). It traces out a spiral through the complex plane. The shadow of that spiral on the real axis is a cosine wave. The shadow on the imaginary axis is a sine wave.
Both fundamental wave shapes are hiding inside one tiny expression.
This is why Schrรถdinger could not get rid of i. He was writing a wave equation. You cannot describe the first without the second.
Freeman Dyson summarized what happened next:
Every atom in your body. Every photon hitting your eyes. Every electron in every wire of every device you own. All of it is governed by an equation with i at its core.
We only found out because Renaissance Italians were willing to push symbols around on paper in ways that seemed absurd, chasing solutions to a cubic equation nobody today remembers.
And here is the part that should keep you up at night.
Mathematicians assumed they had ๐ข๐ง๐ฏ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ i. They were wrong. i was already woven into the fabric of reality 13.8 billion years before the first human ever drew a number line. They simply had not noticed yet.

Joseph Smith Jr.'s Loyal Family

May be art

Joseph Smith Jr. was raised in a large, tightly bonded family whose unity, sacrifice, and loyalty shaped the early Restoration. His siblings—especially Alvin, Hyrum, Sophronia, Samuel, William, Katharine, Don Carlos, and Lucy—supported him spiritually, emotionally, and physically throughout his prophetic mission.
Below is a structured, historically grounded overview of the family he grew up in and the specific ways his brothers and sisters sustained him.
Citations appear throughout from authoritative sources.
๐ŸŒฟ The Family Joseph Smith Was Raised In
Joseph Smith Jr. was the fifth child of Joseph Smith Sr. and Lucy Mack Smith, a devout, close-knit New England family. They had eleven children, nine of whom lived into adulthood.
The Smith home was marked by:
Deep religious searching (years of prayer, dreams, and spiritual struggle)
Hard physical labor (clearing land, farming, hiring out work)
Shared poverty and sacrifice
Strong loyalty—the family consistently acted as a unified whole
Lucy Mack Smith later wrote that the family’s unity was one of their greatest strengths during persecution.
๐Ÿค How Joseph’s Siblings Supported Him
1. Alvin Smith (1798–1823) — The steadying force
Alvin, the eldest brother, was Joseph’s greatest early supporter.
• He encouraged Joseph to be faithful to the heavenly instructions he had received.
• He planned to help Joseph obtain and protect the plates.
• His sudden death in 1823 devastated the family and left Joseph without his strongest earthly advocate.
Alvin’s influence remained so significant that the angel later referenced him during Joseph’s visits.
2. Hyrum Smith (1800–1844) — Joseph’s lifelong defender
Hyrum was Joseph’s closest companion and the sibling who gave the most sustained support.
• He believed Joseph’s visions from the beginning.
• He helped protect the plates and supported the translation.
• He endured imprisonment, mobs, and poverty alongside Joseph.
• He died with Joseph at Carthage Jail.
Hyrum’s loyalty is one of the most documented examples of brotherly devotion in American religious history. Especially coming from an older brother.
3. Sophronia Smith (1803–1876) — Quiet strength through affliction
Sophronia endured severe illness and personal hardship, yet remained loyal to Joseph and the Church.
• She joined the Church early and faced persecution with the family.
• She moved with the Saints through Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois.
• Her life was marked by sacrifice and resilience.
4. Samuel Harrison Smith (1808–1844) — The first missionary
Samuel was one of the earliest and most active supporters of Joseph’s work.
• He was the first missionary of the Church.
• He distributed the first copies of the Book of Mormon.
• He repeatedly risked his life to protect Joseph and Hyrum.
Samuel died just weeks after the martyrdom, likely from exhaustion and grief.
5. William Smith (1811–1893) — Passionate but turbulent
William supported Joseph at many key moments, including:
• Helping protect the family during mob violence
• Serving missions
• Participating in early Church leadership
Though his relationship with Joseph was sometimes strained, his early loyalty was real and consequential.
6. Katharine Smith Salisbury (1813–1900) — Steadfast loyalty
Katharine was deeply faithful and endured persecution with the family.
• She joined the Church early.
• She moved with the Saints to Missouri and Illinois.
• She remained loyal to Joseph throughout her life.
7. Don Carlos Smith (1816–1841) — The gifted younger brother
Don Carlos was beloved by Joseph.
• He became editor of the Times and Seasons.
• He defended Joseph during the Missouri persecutions.
• His early death at age 25 was another heavy blow to Joseph.
8. Lucy Smith Millikin (1821–1882) — The youngest sister
Lucy was only six when Joseph obtained the plates.
• She grew up amid persecution and displacement.
• She remained loyal to her mother and siblings after the martyrdom.
๐Ÿงญ Why Their Support Mattered
The Smith siblings:
Sheltered Joseph during mob attacks
• Helped hide and protect the plates
• Provided emotional and spiritual reinforcement
• Endured poverty, sickness, and displacement together
• Testified of Joseph’s calling throughout their lives
Their unity created the environment in which the Restoration could take root.

Victor Davis Hanson published a comprehensive piece in American Greatness on April 27. The thesis: cumulative Hitler/Trump rhetoric, layered onto the normalization of street violence, generates the conditions under which Cole Allen, Ryan Wesley Routh, and Thomas Matthew Crooks become possible — and that the Democratic establishment has chosen to keep the rhetoric because the political math works for them.
Hanson opens with the simple fact:

When elite leftists for ten years label the President a fascist who must be stopped at any means necessary, sufficiently unstable consumers eventually act on the instructional content. Cole Allen’s manifesto reads like a Petri dish of left-wing conspiracies: Russian collusion, lawfare myths, the Epstein files, italic-Hitler framing.
The Democratic Party’s posture is structural, not accidental. Hanson:

Translation: this is not a regrettable accident of polarized speech. This is a deliberate political strategy, accepted at the leadership level, where the calculation is that the political benefit of the rhetorical environment exceeds the human cost of the violence it produces.
Hanson’s prediction:
The structural problem: even when Democrats publicly condemn the violence, they immediately resume the rhetoric. Hakeem Jeffries called for ๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ days after posing with a baseball bat next to a Trump photo. Tim Walz flew to Barcelona during a war and called Trump a fascist for the sixth time. Kamala Harris in 2020 endorsed the Floyd-riot violence on national television:
The Cole Allen pipeline, in steps:
1. Bluesky, elite media, late-night comedy, and Democrat elected officials frame Trump as Hitler
2. The framing becomes routinized. Voters, students, viewers absorb it as the moral baseline
3. A subset of unstable consumers conclude Trump must literally be stopped by violence
4. Cole Allen sends a manifesto to family, walks a sh∗tgun and a handgun through the Washington Hilton metal detector
5. The Democratic establishment publicly condemns the violence and privately keeps the rhetoric
6. The cycle resumes. Hanson predicts another three or four attempts before Trump leaves office.

The Blessing of Growing Older

“The Blessing of Growing Older”
๐ŸŽ❤️๐Ÿ‚
No photo description available.

Growing older is a gift many of us fail to appreciate when we are young. We spend years fearing the wrinkles on our skin, the silver in our hair, and the slower pace in our steps—without realizing what those things truly represent.
Wrinkles are not imperfections; they are the marks of countless smiles, endless laughter, and tears that proved we felt life deeply. Silver hair is not something to cover up; it is a crown of wisdom, earned through years of lessons, strength, and survival. Slower steps are not a sign of weakness; they are proof that we have traveled far enough to understand that life is not a race, but a journey meant to be cherished.
One of the hardest parts of aging is letting go of certain seasons of life—the sound of little feet running through the house, the boundless energy of youth, and the loved ones whose absence leaves an ache in our hearts. Yet within that sadness comes gratitude… gratitude for having lived those moments, loved those people, and created memories that time can never erase.
Aging is not about losing years; it is about gaining perspective. It is the blessing of watching seasons change, of seeing children grow into adults and then into parents themselves. It is knowing your love, your sacrifices, and your presence have shaped lives in ways that will continue long after you are gone.
The truth is, not everyone is given the chance to grow old. Every birthday is not something to fear, but something to celebrate. Every year is another opportunity to love a little deeper, laugh a little louder, and leave behind a legacy of kindness and grace.
Because the true blessing of growing older is simple: it means you were given more time.
And time… is the most precious gift of all. ❤️

"The shooter didn't radicalize himself.  He was radicalized by people with TV Shows, Blue Checkmarks, and Pulitzer Prizes."                 (M. A. - Rothman)

2017-2014 - Donald Trump - The New York Times - "The Threat to American Democracy;" MSNBC - "Trump: a Danger to the World"; Trump called Hitler over and over.  The rhetoric didn't just escalate - it went operational.

April 25, Cole Thomas Allen - Checked into the Washington Hilton with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives.  Ten minutes before opening fire at the White House Correspondents' Dinner he sent his family a manifesto signed "Cole 'Cold Force' Friendhily Federal Assassin" Allen

The Words:  They Incite, They Threaten, They Target.

SPLC Southern Poverty Law Center - Indicted for paying at least $3 million to 8 informants inside hate groups - not to dismantle them, but to manufacture the extremes it claimed to oppose.

Acting AG Todd Blanche:  "The SPLC was not dismantling these groups.  It was instead manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose by paying sources to stoke racial hatred."
