Memorial Day with Family

On Memorial Day in May each year, we remember with thankful hearts our country's veterans and the sacrifice they made to preserve our freedoms.  It has also become a day to appreciate family and spend quality time with those who can be together.

This Memorial Day, we were pleased to have Scott and Kristine here from Denver to spend time with us and joining other family members who live in the area who came for visiting, swimming, and good food.

Sam had spent the morning getting the pool ready after having been unused during the non-swimming months.

Judd and Amy joined the group for swimming
after spending time with Amy's grandma
who was visiting from Idaho.
Judd and Amy have moved to Utah from Kentucky and
now live in Edgemont (Provo area).

We appreciate living where we enjoy so many blessings.

We are grateful for those who have served our country and
for those who have given their lives
to protect these freedoms and the way of life we enjoy.

Sam had two uncles killed in World War II, Oscar and Melvin.
My sister married a wonderful man who had been seriously wounded in the war requiring long-term hospitalization and surgeries before she met Gus. My brother was in the air force; and he fortunately missed being sent overseas to the battlefield when his unit was shipped out the weekend he had been given leave to attend General Conference in Salt Lake City. My dad also was a veteran, having served in World War I, but wasn't involved in combat.
